PhilHealth to process P8.8B in denied claims

PhilHealth will process P8.8 billion worth of hospital claims previously denied due to late filing, benefiting approximately 1.1 million claims submitted between 2018 and 2024.

The decision follows the PhilHealth board's approval of a new policy addressing claims rejected for exceeding the 60-day filing period.

PhilHealth President Edwin Mercado stated that the claims will be processed so that hospitals that provided service will be compensated.

The new policy officially takes effect on March 21, after which public and private health facilities will have six months to file claims previously denied due to late submissions.

Claims that are unprotected and unappealed from 2018 to 2024 will be considered for reprocessing.

Denied claims currently pending in court could also be reconsidered if appellants withdraw their litigation against the corporation.
