PhilHealth has settled P592 million in claims for the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) from January 1 to May 21 this year.
PhilHealth President and CEO Edwin Mercado visited NKTI to ensure patients receive their full benefits for hemodialysis and other renal replacement therapies.
Mercado stated that these actions align with President Bongbong Marcos Jr.'s priorities.
Since 2023, PhilHealth has enhanced benefits for members with chronic kidney disease stage 5, including an increase in hemodialysis sessions from 90 to 156 annually.
Further enhancements include a rise in the Z Benefit Package for peritoneal dialysis to P1.2 million and an increase in kidney transplantation coverage from P600,000 to P2 million.
Out of the total reimbursement, P161 million was specifically for hemodialysis procedures.
