PhilHealth hikes open-heart surgery coverage significantly

PhilHealth has significantly increased coverage for various open-heart surgeries, with benefits for coronary artery bypass grafts now up to PHP960,000 from PHP550,000, a more than 70 percent increase.

Coverage for the closure of ventricular septal defects has increased to up to PHP614,000 from PHP250,000, and for the total correction of tetralogy of Fallot, coverage is now up to PHP614,000 from PHP320,000.

A new Z Benefits Package for Heart Valve Repair and Replacement has been launched, offering coverage from PHP642,000 to PHP810,000.

Additionally, PhilHealth now provides cardiac rehabilitation packages worth PHP15,000 for adults and PHP6,500 for children.

These expanded benefits aim to bring health services closer to all Filipinos and enhance their lives, according to PhilHealth president and chief executive officer Dr. Edwin Mercado.

Qualified PhilHealth members and dependents can avail of these benefits without co-payments if admitted to PhilHealth-contracted facilities.
