PhilHealth hikes dengue benefit packages amid case surge

PhilHealth has increased its benefit packages for dengue treatment, covering severe cases up to P47,000 and mild cases up to P19,500.

These enhanced rates, implemented last year, align with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive to improve health insurance coverage.

The Department of Health reported 28,234 dengue cases from January 1 to February 1, a 40 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Several local government units, particularly in Calabarzon, Central Luzon, and the National Capital Region, have seen a sharp rise in dengue cases.

In Quezon City, 2,021 cases and 11 deaths were recorded from January 1 to February 18, marking a 209 percent increase from the previous year.

PhilHealth President and CEO Edwin Mercado urged the public to practice preventive measures and seek immediate medical attention if dengue symptoms appear, reminding them that the Konsulta Package is available at no cost.
