PhilHealth boosts HIV outpatient package by 95% to P58,500 annually

PhilHealth has launched an enhanced outpatient HIV/AIDS treatment package offering an annual benefit of P58,500, a 95 percent increase from the previous P30,000, to cover antiretroviral therapy and necessary HIV management services.

This enhanced package aims to provide comprehensive care for individuals living with HIV, ensuring they have access to essential treatments and services.

The increase in benefits comes in response to the rising cases of HIV in the country, with the Department of Health reporting over 5,500 new cases from July to September this year.

Patients can avail of this benefit at 234 accredited HIV treatment hubs across the Philippines.

In 2024, PhilHealth allocated P1.66 billion to cover 176,819 claims related to HIV treatment.

PhilHealth president and CEO Dr. Edwin Mercado urged parents to support their children diagnosed with HIV, emphasizing that early prevention and regular treatment are crucial for their future.

The Department of Health has proposed the declaration of a national public health emergency due to the growing HIV cases.
