Philippine women's tennis team begins BJK Cup campaign in Malaysia

The Philippine women's tennis team, comprising Shaira Hope Rivera, Stefi Aludo, Tennielle Madis, and Alexa Milliam, is set to begin their Billie Jean King Cup Group II Competition campaign in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The team will first face Indonesia in a tie that includes two singles and one doubles match.

They are in Group B of the Asia/Oceania Zone, alongside Iran, Uzbekistan, and Pacific Oceania.

Group A consists of Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, Kyrgyzstan, and the Northern Mariana Islands.

To advance to Group I, the Philippines must finish in the top two spots of Group II.

Captain Denise Dy had previously noted the strong competition from nations like Iran, Indonesia, Pacific Oceania, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan.

Alex Eala, who was instrumental in the team's promotion to Group 2 in November 2024, is not participating as she is competing in the Ilkley Open in Great Britain.
