PH weekly COVID-19 positivity rate climbs to 6.8%

The Philippines' weekly COVID-19 positivity rate has risen to 6.8%, with six regions exceeding the World Health Organization's 5% benchmark.

As of July 5, the National Capital Region (NCR) recorded a positivity rate of 9.8%, an increase from 8.3% on July 2.

Several provinces also show high positivity rates, with Antique at 20.6%, Batangas at 10.7%, Cavite at 13.2%, Iloilo at 10.1%, Laguna at 17.3%, Pampanga at 15%, and Rizal at 16.5%.

The DOH reported a continuous increase in national COVID-19 infections, averaging 1,103 cases per day from June 28 to July 4.

The NCR is experiencing a sharp increase in cases, now exceeding 500 cases per day.

The positivity rate signifies the percentage of individuals testing positive for COVID-19 out of the total number tested.
