PH, US, Japan condemn NK, Russia over nuclear threats

The trilateral summit between the Philippines, the United States, and Japan in Washington condemned North Korea and Russia for security threats posed by the use of nuclear weapons in the Indo-Pacific and European regions.

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

They also warned Russia against the use of nuclear weapons in its ongoing conflict with Ukraine.

The joint vision statement specifically called out North Korea for its escalatory threats and an unprecedented number of ballistic missile launches, including multiple intercontinental ballistic missile launches.

The participating nations urged North Korea to comply with UN Security Council resolutions and cease the development, testing, and transfer of ballistic missiles, especially to Russia.

The statement highlighted concerns about Russia's use of North Korean missiles against Ukraine, further emphasizing the destabilizing impact of these transfers.
