PH to receive over 14.89 million vaccine doses this September

The Philippines is set to receive over 14.89 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines this September, primarily from US manufacturers Pfizer and Moderna.

This increased supply is a result of a reallocation notice from the COVAX Facility and an updated delivery schedule from Moderna.

National Task Force Against COVID-19 chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. expressed optimism that these deliveries will significantly boost the country's inoculation program.

Galvez highlighted that the increased vaccine supply will support the scaling up of vaccination rollouts by local government units, including those in provincial areas, to cover priority groups A4 and A5.

The COVAX Facility's updated allocation for Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines for the Philippines in the third quarter of 2021 has been significantly increased from 188,370 doses to 10,188,360 doses.

The government is also preparing guidelines for vaccinating the general public and for the potential rollout to teenagers aged 12 to 17, pending expert panel approval.
