PH task force postpones reopening of gyms, cafes until Aug 31

The Philippine coronavirus task force has postponed the reopening of gyms, internet cafes, drive-in cinemas, and pet grooming services until August 31.

Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez stated that the delay applies to sectors transitioning from modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) to general community quarantine (GCQ).

This decision was finalized by the National Task Force Against Covid-19 in a special meeting.

The affected areas include Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal.

Previously, these establishments were re-classified from Category 4 to Category 3 by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), allowing them to open in GCQ areas.

However, due to a surge in Covid-19 cases, these businesses will remain closed until the end of August, even with the lifting of MECQ.
