PH secures $905M loan from South Korea for Laguna Lakeshore Road Project

The Philippine government has secured a USD 905.26 million loan from the Republic of Korea, through KEXIM, to fund Phase 1 Stage 1 of the Laguna Lakeshore Road Network (LLRN) Project.

This official development assistance loan will support the civil works implementation of the LLRN Project Phase 1 Stage 1, a key initiative under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s Build Better More program.

The project's first stage involves constructing a 7.94-kilometer road, including a 6.81-kilometer viaduct/bridge, 1.13 kilometers of embankment, three interchanges, and 1.92 kilometers of slip roads.

The LLRN Project aims to substantially boost economic productivity and drive positive development in both the Calabarzon Region and the National Capital Region.

The loan agreement was formally exchanged on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the Department of Finance office in Manila.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025, with completion expected in 2029.

DPWH Senior Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain stated that the project will offer a faster alternative to the South Luzon Expressway, easing congestion and improving travel times.

The project is expected to drive regional tourism, stimulate economic growth, and create opportunities for businesses in Metro Manila, Laguna, Rizal, Cavite, and Batangas.
