PH receives 1.3M Moderna doses

The Philippines received over 1.3 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday, October 9, 2021, purchased through a joint effort by the government and the private sector.

The shipment arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the afternoon.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. stated that the Philippines has now received a total of 85,575,600 vaccine doses since February 28.

In the first week of October alone, the country received over 14.2 million doses, averaging 1.5 million doses daily.

Galvez urged local leaders to be creative in scaling up vaccination rollout and to improve throughput, administration, and demand.

He also encouraged LGUs to initiate partnerships with different agencies and the private sector to increase vaccination rates.
