Naval and air assets of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are monitoring three Chinese Navy vessels that were detected in the Philippines' internal waters.
The vessels include a Renhai Class Cruiser Guided Missile, a Jiangkai Class Frigate II, and a Type 903 Fuchi Class Replenishment Oiler.
The ships were initially tracked near Bajo de Masinloc, Zambales, then joined by two others near Mindoro Island, and were later seen in Sibutu Strait.
Philippine Navy spokesperson Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad stated the ships were using a north to south passage route and were on their way out of the Philippines' EEZ.
However, the AFP Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) is still monitoring the vessels and confirming if they will participate in Indonesia's upcoming Komodo exercise.
Lieutenant General Antonio Nafarrete stated that China has not filed any diplomatic clearance for the warships to pass through Philippine sea lanes.
