PH manufacturing output grows 1.8% in September

The Philippines' manufacturing output experienced accelerated growth in September, primarily boosted by increased production in the petroleum, beverage, and electronic products sectors.

The Volume of Production Index (VoPI) recorded a 1.8 percent increase in September, showing improvement from the 0.9 percent growth in August.

State statisticians tied the higher VoPI figure primarily to an increase in the production of coke and refined petroleum products, where the year-on-year decrease eased to 3.2 percent from 12.1 percent in August.

Production of beverages increased 2.9 percent after an 8.2 percent decline, and output growth of computer, electronic, and optical products sped up to 4.2 percent from 1.2 percent.

Nine industries experienced annual decreases in their VoPI.

The average capacity utilization rate for the manufacturing section in September was 77.1 percent.
