PH logs 8,004 new COVID-19 cases, 12% decrease in daily average

The Philippines has recorded 8,004 new COVID-19 cases from November 14 to November 20, 2022, marking a 12% decrease in the daily average case count compared to the previous week.

During the same period, 93 new COVID-19-related deaths were verified, with 21 of these occurring between November 7 and November 20.

As of November 20, there were 568 severe and critical COVID-19 cases admitted to hospitals, with 493 ICU beds and 4,796 non-ICU beds occupied.

More than 31 million COVID-19 vaccine doses, worth P15.6 billion, have been wasted due to expired shelf life or improper storage and handling.

Approximately 70% of these wasted vaccine doses were purchased by the private sector and local government units.

Health officer-in-charge Maria Rosario S. Vergeire noted that vaccine hesitancy among Filipinos became more pronounced in the latter part of the year.
