PH logs 5,257 new COVID-19 cases

The Philippines logged 5,257 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, June 2, marking the eighth consecutive day with over 5,000 infections.

The total number of infections in the country reached 1,240,716, with active cases now at 52,132.

Of the active cases, 93.1% are mild, 2.3% are asymptomatic, 1.9% are severe, 1.32% are moderate, and 1.5% are in critical condition.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 6,266 new recoveries, bringing the total to 1,167,426.

There were 146 new fatalities, increasing the death toll to 21,158, with 86 recoveries reclassified as deaths.

Eight duplicate cases were removed, including six recoveries.

Nationwide, 57% of intensive care unit (ICU) beds dedicated for COVID-19 patients are occupied, while 48% of isolation beds have been utilized.
