PH, Japan affirm trilateral cooperation with US under Trump admin

The Philippines and Japan have committed to continue their trilateral cooperation with the United States, even under the incoming Trump administration.

DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo and Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi reaffirmed this commitment during a joint press conference.

Both officials agreed to work together for the peace, stability, and freedom of navigation and trade in the Indo-Pacific region.

This trilateral cooperation was also reaffirmed during a recent televideo conference between President Marcos, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, and US President Joe Biden.

The Philippines is open to expanding this trilateral cooperation to include other like-minded countries who share the same vision for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific.

Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi also revealed plans to attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump on January 20.
