PH in talks with 25 vaccine developers

The Philippines is negotiating with 25 COVID-19 vaccine developers from 10 countries for distribution, local manufacturing, and clinical trials.

Twelve Confidentiality Disclosure Agreements (CDAs) have been signed with developers including Janssen, Sinovac Biotech, AstraZeneca, Gamaleya Research Institute, Sinopharm Group, Anhui Zhifei, University of Queensland, Adimmune Corp., Academia Sinica, Tianyuan Biopharma, Bharat Biotech, and CureVac.

Exploratory talks were held with German companies CureVac and IDT-Biologika regarding potential collaborations.

Nineteen of the 25 vaccine developers are interested in conducting clinical trials in the Philippines.

Sinovac has received clearance for its clinical trial in the Philippines, including FDA approval on January 15.

Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Gamaleya, Sinovac, and Bharat Biotech have applied for emergency use authorization.

The Philippines is also preparing for the World Health Organization (WHO) Solidarity Vaccine Trials, awaiting final protocols.
