PH eyes 450k daily COVID-19 vax by April

The Philippines aims to vaccinate 450,000 individuals daily against COVID-19 starting April, once millions of additional doses arrive.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III stated that the country can achieve herd immunity within 11 to 12 months if this daily vaccination rate is maintained.

This projection requires approximately 140 million vaccine doses and the operation of 4,500 vaccination sites, each inoculating 100 individuals per day.

To reach herd immunity, 70 million Filipinos need to be vaccinated.

The country is set to receive over 2.3 million more doses from Sinovac and AstraZeneca this month, which should suffice for healthcare workers.

As of March 15, the seven-day moving average of daily vaccinated individuals was 23,466, with a total of 240,297 individuals vaccinated since the program's launch.
