PH expands travel ban to 6 more countries including Portugal, India

The Philippines has expanded its travel ban to include six more countries, Portugal, India, Finland, Norway, Jordan, and Brazil, bringing the total number of restricted countries to 27.

Foreign travelers coming from or who have been to these six countries within 14 days of arrival will be refused entry from January 8 to January 15.

These new restrictions were announced by Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente and started at midnight of January 8.

This expansion adds to the 21 countries already under travel restrictions.

Filipino citizens arriving from these countries will still be allowed entry but must undergo a strict 14-day quarantine.

The original list of 21 countries under travel restrictions included the United Kingdom, Denmark, Ireland, Japan, Australia, Israel, The Netherlands, Hong Kong SAR, Switzerland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Lebanon, Singapore, Sweden, South Korea, South Africa, Canada, Spain, and the United States.
