PH Embassy in Moscow offers aid to Filipinos amid COVID-19

The Philippine Embassy in Moscow is providing shelter and aid to Filipinos in Russia affected by the COVID-19 pandemic while awaiting repatriation.

Ambassador Carlos Soreta stated that repatriation efforts are contingent on the resumption of commercial flights in and out of Russia.

The embassy is actively assessing the number and visa status of Filipinos seeking to return to the Philippines.

Many Filipinos in Russia, primarily employed as nannies, household help, or part-time workers, have been impacted by the pandemic.

As of April 17, 2020, no Filipinos under the embassy's jurisdiction in Russia, Belarus, and Armenia had tested positive for COVID-19.

Filipinos experiencing virus symptoms are advised to contact the Russian emergency hotline at 103 for medical assistance.

The embassy has converted part of its premises into temporary housing for distressed Filipinos and is distributing food packs to those displaced by the crisis.
