PH envoy advises Filipinos in US to be vigilant amid US airstrikes on Iran

Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez advised Filipinos in the US to remain vigilant following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

He urged members of the Filipino community to stay alert and follow instructions from local authorities should tensions escalate further.

The US action was described as "very serious," noting it was the first time the US used its "special bomb" against another country.

Filipinos in the US were told to actively monitor the US Department of Homeland Security amid its heightened threat environment alert in the US following the strikes.

The US agency warned about the likelihood of violent extremists "independently mobilizing to violence in response to the conflict would like increase" if the Iranian leadership issues a religious ruling calling for retaliatory violence against targets in the US.

The Philippine Embassy advises members of the Filipino Community across the United States to exercise caution, ensure personal safety, and report observed suspicious activities to local authorities and public safety officials.

The Philippine Embassy in Doha also advised Filipinos in Qatar to "shelter in place" following Iran's counterstrike on an American air base in Qatar, though no casualties were reported.
