PH records 23% weekly COVID-19 case increase

The Philippines recorded 2,386 new COVID-19 cases from April 10 to 16, a 23% increase in daily infections compared to the previous week.

Of the new cases, 17 were severe or critical, and as of April 16, 356 COVID-19 patients were in severe and critical condition, accounting for 91% of total admissions.

The utilization rate for COVID-19 intensive care unit (ICU) beds stood at 12.3%, with non-ICU bed utilization at 17.4%.

Health authorities verified 20 more COVID-19 deaths that occurred as late as January 2021.

There were 8,611 active coronavirus infections in the Philippines as of March 26.

As of March 16, more than 78.4 million Filipinos had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with significant numbers having received booster doses.
