PDL, civilian nabbed in SRPPF drug bust

A person deprived of liberty (PDL) and a civilian were arrested in a buy-bust operation for alleged involvement in illegal drugs at the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City.

The arrested individuals were identified as PDL Kerwin Mohammad Abadilla and civilian Albadir Mala Ajijul.

The operation, which took place at a five-hectare vegetable farm site, was a joint effort by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).

An undetermined amount of substance believed to be shabu was recovered from the two suspects.

Four SRPPF corrections officers monitoring the PDLs were relieved from their posts pending an investigation into their possible involvement.

BuCor stated that the PDL and 14 others were taken out of the minimum security camp for institutional duties at the time of the incident.

The SRPPF has been directed to coordinate with PDEA to uncover those responsible for the incident.
