P136M shabu haul includes active cop in Baguio bust

An active police officer, Executive Master Sergeant Palmer Moling, and three other individuals were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Baguio City on Tuesday, March 25.

The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 20 kilograms of suspected shabu, valued at P136 million, which is reportedly the biggest shabu haul in the Cordillera region in recent months.

Also confiscated were a 9mm pistol, identification cards, and a vehicle.

The other suspects arrested were identified as Mary Ann Teope Ty, Mark Leonard Laurente Teope, and Adriano Basallo Soriano.

Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong expressed shock at the drug bust and the police officer's alleged involvement, noting that the seized drugs might not have been intended for local distribution.

Moling, known for a lavish lifestyle, is facing charges for selling and possessing dangerous drugs under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The Baguio City Police Office reaffirmed its commitment to integrity and its zero-tolerance policy against illegal activities.
