PDEA destroys over P5.32B in illegal drugs in Cavite

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed over P5.32 billion worth of illegal drugs and controlled precursors and essential chemicals (CPECs) in Cavite.

The destruction, which took place at the Integrated Waste Management Inc. in Trece Martires City, involved 2,227.7584 kg. of solid and 3,447.0920 ml. of liquid substances.

These substances were destroyed through thermal decomposition, with the destroyed contraband including significant quantities of shabu, marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine, ketamine, toluene, lysergic acid diethylamide, and phenacetin.

Among the illegal substances disposed of were 404.95 kilos of shabu recovered at the port of Manila on January 23, and 3,447.09 milliliters of liquid narcotics.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani Nerez stated that the destruction aims to prevent any recycling or resale of the seized drugs into the illegal market.

This event marks the first disposal of a large volume of confiscated illegal drugs since Nerez became PDEA chief three months ago.

Nerez lauded the courts for the speedy prosecution and disposition of drug cases and made the ceremony public to show that none of the confiscated illegal drugs had been recycled.
