PCL backs anti-terror bill to boost security

The Philippine Councilors' League (PCL) supports the proposed Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020, stating it will boost security and preserve freedom in the country against terrorists.

PCL interim national president Jose Nelson Sala Sr. emphasized the urgency to address terrorism and protect the Filipino family, citing global and local incidents of inhumane attacks.

He believes the bill will prevent the kidnapping and recruitment of youth by rebels for terroristic activities.

Sala also stated the act would address the escalating threat of terrorism and its root causes, preventing the Philippines from becoming a "fortress of terrorists" by curbing the spread of foreign terrorist activities.

The bill aims to allow Filipinos to enjoy the blessings of democracy, such as traveling without fear of becoming victims of terroristic acts.

The PCL's support for the bill is motivated by the need to act before becoming victims themselves, emphasizing its importance for the Filipino family and future generations.
