PCG vessel escorting RORE mission to Ayungin collides with CCG anew
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported that its vessel BRP Sindangan sustained minor damage after a collision with a China Coast Guard (CCG) ship during a resupply mission to Ayungin Shoal.
PCG spokesperson Commodore Jay Tarriela stated that the collision occurred due to dangerous maneuvers and blocking actions by CCG vessels and Chinese Maritime Militia.
This incident follows a previous collision in October 2023 where a CCG vessel collided with a Philippine-contracted boat during a similar resupply mission.
During the recent mission, another PCG vessel, MRRV 4409, was also bumped by a Chinese maritime militia vessel.
