PCG rescues over 5,000 from Metro Manila, Luzon floods

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has rescued and evacuated 5,076 individuals from severe flooding across Metro Manila and Luzon, attributed to recent tropical cyclones and the southwest monsoon.

Rescue efforts were concentrated in submerged areas, including cities and provinces like Valenzuela, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, Bataan, Pampanga, and Pangasinan.

The PCG has mobilized all 16 of its districts, comprising 6,700 personnel, placing them on full alert with deployable response groups equipped with air and radio assets.

PCG spokesperson Captain Noemie Cayabyab stated that the national government is ready to deliver immediate help to those in need and urged the public to listen to their local government for evacuation news.

In addition to rescue operations, the PCG has supported preemptive evacuations in at-risk locations and issued warnings to fishermen regarding dangerous sea conditions.
