PCG recovers alleged Chinese rocket debris in Ilocos Norte

Philippine Coast Guard personnel recovered alleged rocket debris with Chinese markings in Barangay Saoit, Burgos, Ilocos Norte, amid Super Typhoon Uwan.

The debris was discovered by Coast Guard personnel during routine patrols as part of an information drive for fishermen.

Authorities are coordinating with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office for the safe recovery and assessment of the material.

Safety advisories were issued to local fishermen and residents, urging them to maintain a safe distance from the suspected debris.

The Philippine Space Agency previously warned the public in northern Luzon about possible debris from a Chinese rocket launch, specifying potential drop zones that included areas near Ilocos Norte and Cagayan.
