PCG tags bloggers in WPS disinformation campaign

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) identified two Filipino bloggers, Anna Malindog-Uy and Ado Paglinawan, as alleged disseminators of a coordinated disinformation campaign on social media regarding the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

PCG spokesperson Jay Tarriela stated that these bloggers are accused of promoting pro-China narratives and discrediting the Philippines' stance on the WPS.

The disinformation allegedly includes blaming the PCG for sea confrontations, defending Chinese-linked Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), and dismissing claims of Chinese spies.

Tarriela specifically mentioned Uy's narrative that the PCG rammed a China Coast Guard vessel and Paglinawan's post calling the WPS issue "lunacy" and criticizing senators' grilling of former Mayor Alice Guo.

The PCG has observed a significant increase in fake news and disinformation concerning the WPS since the administration began publicizing incidents in the area two years ago.
