PCC OKs Robinsons Supermarket acquisition of motorcycle distributor Premiumbikes Corp

The Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) has approved Robinsons Supermarket Corp.'s acquisition of Premiumbikes Corp.

Premiumbikes Corp. is known for its wholesale and retail distribution of motorcycles, spare parts, and accessories through more than 200 branches nationwide.

The PCC concluded that the acquisition is unlikely to significantly reduce competition in the relevant markets.

The antitrust watchdog noted that the combined entity's market share is limited, and numerous competitors remain in the market, preventing unilateral exercise of market power.

The PCC's decision was based on information gathered from the involved parties, regulators, competitors, and trade groups.

Robinsons Supermarket, part of the Gokongwei Group, manages various retail brands including Robinsons Supermarket, Shopwise, and The Marketplace.
