PBBM, FL attend Pope Francis' funeral in Vatican

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise "Liza" Araneta-Marcos attended the funeral of Pope Francis in the Vatican, representing the Philippines.

The President stated his attendance was a gesture of deep respect from Filipinos to a shepherd who made them feel seen.

Marcos Jr. described the funeral as a tribute from Filipinos to a Pope who walked with the humble and gave voice to the unseen.

Pope Francis, who died on April 21 due to a stroke and irreversible heart failure, was buried in the Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome.

The funeral mass, held at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican, was attended by approximately 170 world leaders, dignitaries, and thousands of Catholic faithful.

The President has since returned to the Philippines on Monday morning and is expected to resume work immediately.
