PBBM orders PhilHealth claims filing extended to 120 days

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the Department of Health (DOH) to extend the filing period for hospital claims with PhilHealth from 60 to 120 days.

This directive addresses concerns raised by the Commission on Audit (COA) regarding over P1 billion in unsettled PhilHealth claims from 13 DOH-retained hospitals.

The COA report cited persistent non-compliance with PhilHealth claims processing guidelines and internal systemic weaknesses as reasons for the challenges in claim collection.

Denied claims amounted to approximately P786.66 million, with return-to-hospital claims totaling P298.77 million.

President Marcos also tasked the DOH to fix its paperwork and ensure the completeness of its documents, following the COA findings.
