PBBM receives signed deal for P23.36B TPLEX extension

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. received the signed concession agreement for the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) Extension Project, a PHP23.36-billion Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

The DPWH and San Miguel Holdings Corp. (SMHC) signed the agreement on July 3, 2024.

The project involves a 59.4-kilometer, four-lane toll road with five interchanges, extending the TPLEX from Rosario to Tubao, Naguilian, Bauang, and San Juan in La Union.

This extension is expected to cut travel time between Rosario and San Juan from 1.5 hours to approximately 40 minutes.

La Union Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David anticipates the project will boost tourism and attract new investors to the province due to the reduced travel time.

President Marcos Jr. expressed optimism that the project will stimulate tourism and the economy in Luzon by facilitating faster delivery of resources and food, fostering collaborations among sectors, and creating jobs.
