PBBM orders P298M aid for Davao Region LGUs hit by twin earthquakes

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered the release of P298 million in financial assistance to local government units in the Davao Region, severely affected by twin earthquakes.

Of the total amount, P158.3 million was allocated to Davao Oriental, with P50 million going to the province itself.

Municipalities Manay, Banaybanay, and Lupon each received P5 million, while Mati City and the municipalities of Tarragona, Baganga, Boston, and Cateel were distributed P10 million each.

Caraga and San Isidro towns received P5 million each, and Governor Generoso town received P3 million.

Additional aid of P20 million will be allotted to Agusan del Sur, and P15 million each to Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao Occidental, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands, and Davao City.

The President visited Davao Oriental to personally oversee relief operations for areas hit by the twin earthquakes that struck on October 9 and 10.

Phivolcs referred to the seismic activity as a 'doublet earthquake', which affected over 166,000 families, destroyed about 500 homes, and claimed three lives.
