PBBM leads turnover of 124 patient transport vehicles to Eastern Visayas LGUs

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the turnover of 124 Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) patient transport vehicles (PTVs) to various local government units (LGUs) in Eastern Visayas.

The distribution was part of the PCSO's Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program and included municipalities and cities across Biliran, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, Southern Leyte, and Leyte.

Each PTV is fully equipped with essential medical tools like a stretcher, oxygen tank, and first aid kit, ensuring safe and timely patient transport, especially in remote areas.

President Marcos Jr. emphasized that these vehicles are practical, versatile, and designed for Philippine roads, addressing the majority of patient transport needs.

He also noted that the initiative is part of his administration's broader efforts to improve the country's healthcare program, in response to weaknesses exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Marcos Jr. committed to providing more PTVs by the end of the year, with a second round of distribution being eyed.

He mentioned that 1,173 PTVs have already been distributed out of 1,642 cities and towns, with the goal of reaching 100% coverage before a second round begins.
