PBBM commemorates father's 36th death anniversary in Ilocos Norte

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. commemorated his late father, former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr., on the 36th anniversary of his death.

He attended a mass at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Batac City, Ilocos Norte, accompanied by his cousin Ilocos Norte Governor Cecilia Araneta Marcos and son William Vincent "Vinny" Araneta Marcos.

President Marcos Jr. shared on Facebook that his father's memory and dreams remain with him always, referring to him as "Apo Lakay".

Senator Imee Marcos, though absent from the mass, also posted a tribute, calling their father "the original and great" President Marcos and stating she will continue to carry his lessons and legacy.

Marcos Sr. died in Honolulu, Hawaii, on September 28, 1989, at the age of 72, after being exiled in 1986 following the 1986 People Power Revolution.

He served as president for over 20 years, from 1965 to 1986, a period that included the imposition of martial law in 1972.
