PBBM approves 4 new economic zones

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. approved four new economic zones in the first half of 2025: two expansions of a manufacturing zone in Batangas and two new Information Technology (IT) Parks in Tagbilaran City and Bacolod City.

The expansions for the Aboitiz-led Lima Technology Center in Batangas add 42.72 hectares and have an estimated project cost of P1.4 billion.

In Bacolod City, a new IT Park named The Upper East is projected to attract over PHP1 billion in investments for IT building construction and create more than 2,500 local jobs.

Tagbilaran City's Tagbilaran Uptown IT Hub 2 has been formalized as an IT Park, with a projected investment of over PHP200 million to generate additional jobs and attract IT-business process management locators.

These newly approved economic zones are expected to generate P3.2 billion in investments.

PEZA Director General Tereso Panga stated that ecozones are crucial for attracting investments, generating jobs, and accelerating the nation's socio-economic progress.
