Pateros eyes 6,000 kids for COVID-19 vaccination starting Feb 7

The Pateros municipal government is targeting to vaccinate 6,000 children aged five to 11 years old.

The local government is prepared for the vaccination drive and will commence the rollout on February 7.

Mayor Miguel "Ike" Ponce III stated that the vaccination of minors aged five to 11 will start on Feb. 7 at the AMC Gym in Barangay San Roque.

Ponce added that this is to observe if there will be side effects of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine on kids.

Parents can register their children aged 5 to 11 for vaccination in Pateros using a QR code.

Pateros already has experience with pediatric vaccinations, having administered COVID-19 vaccines to the 12 to 17 age group.

The national vaccination program for this age group will commence with a pilot run on February 4 in selected Metro Manila sites.

Registration for the 5 to 11 years old vaccination program has begun in Pateros, with approximately 40 percent of the target population already registered.

Mayor Ponce anticipates public acceptance will increase rapidly after the vaccination program has been underway for two weeks, based on past experience.
