Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto tests positive for COVID-19

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announced on Saturday, January 15, that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

He is currently experiencing symptoms such as a sore throat, fever, and body aches.

Mayor Sotto assured the public that he will continue his mayoral duties remotely during his seven-day isolation period.

He noted that the Omicron variant is spreading rapidly, stating, "LAHAT TAYO ay mae-expose sa variant na ito" (all of us will be exposed to this variant).

As of Friday, Pasig recorded 3,640 active COVID-19 cases, bringing the city's total confirmed cases to 65,756 since the pandemic began.

His driver, Vener Mollo, previously died in March due to COVID-19.

Mayor Sotto urged the public to be careful, strengthen their resistance, and be responsible by staying home if they have symptoms.
