Pasay mayor to decide on cinema reopening in two weeks

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano will decide in two weeks whether to allow the reopening of cinemas in the city.

While the opening of more than 20 cinemas could help kick-start the local economy and create jobs, the city government is prioritizing efforts to contain a recent surge in COVID-19 cases.

The city government continues to conduct aggressive testing, with over 300 individuals tested daily, and those who test positive are immediately placed under quarantine and treatment.

Of the 77 barangays previously under localized community quarantine, about 20 will be lifted after completing their 14-day quarantine.

Barangay 183, however, was placed under total lockdown due to 33 active COVID-19 cases.

Mayor Rubiano, who was a COVID-19 patient herself, urged residents to remain vigilant, strictly follow health protocols, and get vaccinated.
