Parañaque City imposes 3-day lockdown on 15 sitios in Barangay Baclaran

Parañaque City implemented a three-day calibrated lockdown on 15 sitios in Barangay Baclaran from May 21 to May 23, 2020, due to a high number of COVID-19 cases.

The lockdown initially targeted 10 sitios but was expanded to include five connecting streets that serve as entry points.

These affected sitios were identified based on community-based testing and contact tracing results, leading to intensified testing, monitoring, and disinfection.

Essential services were closed, and unauthorized vehicles were restricted, with the city government assuring residents of provided assistance.

The busy Barangay Baclaran, with a population of about 29,000, has numerous tiangges along Coast Road and Taft Avenue, which are now being monitored by 142 policemen and barangay watchmen.

Family food packs were distributed to residents, and those needing mandatory COVID-19 testing were brought to the Baclaran Elementary School isolation facility.

Police warned residents against leaving their homes, with even those found by their doorsteps risking arrest.
