Nearly 100 canceled POGO hubs remain operational

Nearly 100 of the 402 canceled Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hubs are reportedly still operational, according to the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).

PAOCC spokesperson Winston John Casio stated that they have been monitoring these canceled POGO hubs since receiving a list from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) last year.

So far, the PAOCC, in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), has only managed to shut down four POGO hubs.

Casio explained that building a case and conducting operations against a single POGO hub can take a significant amount of time, approximately five weeks for case buildup and two months for the operation itself.

He expressed concern that without a more robust and deeper policy against these scam farms, it will be difficult to fully resolve the issue at the current pace.
