Pangilinan family to post bail for arrested Sitio San Roque residents

Frankie Pangilinan, daughter of Senator Francis Pangilinan and Sharon Cuneta, offered to shoulder the bail for 21 residents of Sitio San Roque, Quezon City, who were arrested for protesting to demand government assistance during the enhanced community quarantine.

Each of the arrested individuals had their bail set at a minimum of P15,000.

Frankie initially offered to sponsor one person's bail, and her parents offered to cover the bail for the remaining twenty residents.

The Sitio San Roque residents, many of whom are daily wage earners, have lost their livelihoods due to the lockdown.

The Quezon City Police District arrested the residents for protesting without a permit.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has appealed for their release, but the Quezon City Police District has filed charges against them.

President Rodrigo Duterte accused leftist groups of being involved in the protests and ordered police to shoot troublemakers.

Some San Roque residents received food aid amid the enhanced community quarantine following their protest.
