Pangasinan sees 92% COVID-19 case surge

Octa Research fellow Guido David reported a significant spike in COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan, with a 92 percent increase in the one-week growth rate.

The province's COVID-19 positivity rate surged from 6.9 percent on September 10 to 10.9 percent by September 12.

The reproduction number in Pangasinan also rose from 1.10 to 1.40 during the observed period.

Despite the increase in cases, the average daily attack rate (Adar) remains low at 2.18 per 100,000 population.

Healthcare utilization and ICU occupancy in Pangasinan are also at low levels, with 30 percent and 17 percent respectively.

David advised that Pangasinan remains at low risk but the rise in cases needs to be monitored.

This development follows a similar spike in COVID-19 cases previously observed in Rizal province.
