Palace vows to prosecute COVID-19 quarantine violators

Malacañang vows to prosecute individuals violating COVID-19 quarantine protocols amidst a recent increase in infections.

This statement follows reports of a Filipino returnee from the US allegedly breaching quarantine and testing positive for COVID-19.

The individual was reportedly seen at a Makati City bar days after arriving.

Acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles emphasized that violators will be prosecuted without hesitation, stressing that this is a public health emergency.

Nograles urged the public to follow the law for everyone's protection and safety, warning that attempts to evade rules will be caught.

He also mentioned that the Philippine National Police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group is conducting investigations.

The responsibility for ensuring no health measures are violated lies with both international travelers and quarantine facilities.
