Palace: Robredo should initiate talks with Duterte

Malacañang stated that Vice President Leni Robredo should take the initiative to mend fences and cooperate with President Rodrigo Duterte for the benefit of the nation.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque suggested that it is Robredo's responsibility to initiate collaboration with Duterte, especially in addressing national issues like the pandemic and typhoons.

Roque pointed out that Duterte had appointed Robredo to two Cabinet positions in the past, highlighting previous opportunities for cooperation.

Robredo had previously served as the chairperson of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council before resigning and was later appointed as the co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) by Duterte, a role from which she was eventually removed.

The Vice President acknowledged the differing governance styles between herself and the President but emphasized the importance of setting aside these differences to work together for the people.
