Palace open to Taal Commission for rehab

Malacañang is open to the creation of a Taal Commission to handle the rehabilitation of communities affected by the Taal Volcano eruption, though a specific task force is not deemed necessary at this time.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo stated that the Palace will study and implement any beneficial proposals for the affected citizens.

Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto proposed the establishment of a Taal Commission through a bill, with the President having the authority to certify its urgency.

Panelo explained that a separate task force is not needed as various agencies are already addressing the situation, a response that President Duterte is satisfied with.

The Office of the President is prepared to release additional funds if the need arises for relief and rehabilitation efforts.

Malacañang is also prepared for a potentially hazardous eruption of Taal Volcano, expressing hope for a less destructive outcome.

President Duterte is scheduled to personally visit affected areas in Batangas and lead the distribution of food packs to affected families.
