Palace assures Nueva Ecija farmers govt to continue buying rice

Malacañang has assured farmers in Nueva Ecija that the government will continue buying their rice produce, asking them to wait for their turn as the National Food Authority (NFA) has a long list of farmers.

Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro clarified that no rice warehouses are currently full.

However, she added that if NFA warehouses reach full capacity, the government will rent additional warehouses to accommodate all farmers.

Castro reiterated that farmers need to line up as it is currently peak season and those who registered first will be prioritized.

She assured that all farmers who wait for their turn will have their palay bought by the NFA.

The Department of Agriculture had previously declared a food security emergency on rice to allow the NFA to release buffer stocks and stabilize prices.
